Strong Armed Robbery 1700 E. Newton Ave
On Thursday, November 5, 2015, at 10:40am, a strong arm robbery occurred in the 1700 Block E. Newton Ave. The victim was walking from her vehicle to her residence, when she was approached from behind by an unknown male subject who demanded her keys. The victim struggled with the suspect who fled from the scene on foot southbound through the alley in the 1700 Block E. Newton Ave. It is believed the suspect fled to a vehicle waiting in the area, which was seen by the victim waiting in the alley. The suspect obtained a key fob from the victim.
The victim described the suspect as a black male, 25-30 years of age, 6 feet tall, blue jeans, wearing an orange hoodie with a green or gray jacket over the hoodie.
The suspect vehicle was described as a black SUV unknown make or model with possibly Illinois license plates. There two other occupants’ in the getaway vehicle were described as two black males.

University Police is investigating an attempted arm robbery in the 2400 block of Kenwood that took place today at 10:40am. The suspect attempted to steal the keys and vehicle of the person in this block. No property was stolen. This was subsequent to the same type of crime that occurred in the 1700 block of Newton in Shorewood shortly before this. The weapon in the case was implied but not displayed.
The suspect in this case was a male/black, taller wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. He left the scene in a black ford escape. It is believed the suspect is no longer in the area.
