The Kern County Sheriff’s Office would like to alert the public of a wide spread phone service outage.

AT&T is reporting a wide spread cellular phone service outage covering most of southern California, including the Kern County area. Text messaging appears to be operational, but cellular phone calls, including 9-1-1 calls, are being affected. The outage may also be affecting internet based AT&T land line service.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to inform members of the public who are in need of emergency services to use caution if calling from an AT&T service line and use an alternate phone service if possible until the outage is repaired.
