Two Suspects Arrested After I-65 Traffic Stop
Bartholomew County-This morning, at approximately 1:00 AM, Trp. Korry Clark conducted a traffic stop on I-65 southbound near Columbus in which he arrested two people on a warrant and drug charges.
Trp. Clark conducted a traffic stop on the Acura passenger car after a license plate check revealed that the driver of the vehicle may be suspended. During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Clark learned that the driver of the vehicle, Richard J. Duffy, 29, Indianapolis, IN was wanted on a warrant out of Marion County and also driving on a suspended license. Trp. Clark also became suspicious of other criminal activity taking place. Trp. Jacob Tolle and Officer Branch Schrader, Columbus Police Department, along with K-9 Argo arrived on scene to assist.
K-9 Argo alerted to the odor of an illegal substance on the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, officers located marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a controlled substance. Duffy along with a passenger in the vehicle, Bre Anna D. Williams, 22, Whiteland, IN were arrested on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges. Both were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. While at the jail, Duffy was found to be in possession of additional marijuana.
After the book-in process is completed, both suspects will be given a bond and a court date.
