Morning Crash Seriously Injures Seymour Man
Jackson County-This morning at approximately 9:45 AM, troopers from the Indiana State Police responded to a personal injury crash on US 50 near County Avenue (CR 560 North), just east of Seymour.
Initial investigation by Master Trooper Tommy Walker indicated a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis being driven by Mikel P. Williams, 57, Seymour, Indiana was traveling westbound on US 50 near County Avenue (CR 560 North) when the vehicle left the north side of the road for an unknown reason. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle went down an embankment and struck a tree head on.
Williams was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Seymour Fire Department. Williams was then flown by medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with serious internal injuries. The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
M/Trp. Walker was assisted at the scene by M/Trp. Kevin Riordan, M/Trp. Ed Olibo, Sgt. Brian Wilson, the Seymour Police and Fire Departments, Jackson and Jennings County EMS, Lifeline Helicopter, and Hampton’s Wrecker Service.
