GCSO Deputies arrest 2 men suspected of stealing mail after receiving a tip from concerned citizen

On Friday (11/20/15) morning, Greene County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the area of East State Highway AD and North State Highway 125 in eastern Greene County after a concerned citizen called 911 to report a suspicious vehicle with the occupants checking mailboxes. GCSO Deputies located the vehicle and two white males were detained for trespassing. During the investigation, at least one check was recovered from the scene which had been reported stolen from a mailbox in Greene County.

Last night, Sheriff Jim Arnott met with citizens at an eastern Greene County Community Advisory Meeting. He encouraged people to call 911 when they see something suspicious or amiss. "We get a lot of good tips from our citizens which we are able to make arrests and pursue charges. Our responsibility is to our community and we can make it a safer place by working together as a team," states Sheriff Arnott.

The investigation is still on-going and charges may be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney for further review.

A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
