Updated information in Livermore PD homicide investigation.

On 10/24/15, at 6:05 PM, the Livermore Police Department dispatch center received multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding a shooting in the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy located in the 1500 block of First Street. Responding officers arrived within minutes and located two subjects that had been shot inside of a vehicle in the parking lot. The driver of the vehicle, Jose A. Mendoza (32 years old, out of Turlock, CA.) was deceased at the scene. The front passenger, Ulizes Benitez (22 years old, out of Turlock, CA.), suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital.

Livermore Police Detectives determined that there were two suspects in this incident and identified one suspect as Jason Alexander Brown. LPD Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jason Alexander Brown's arrest for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

On 10/25/15, Livermore Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Oakland Police Department, served a search warrant at Jason Alexanders Brown’s residence in Oakland. During the search warrant, Brown was not located at the residence, however his vehicle which was used during this incident was located and impounded.

On Thursday 11/19/15, in the afternoon hours, LPD detectives learned of a possible location of Jason Alexander Brown. LPD detectives went to a motel in the 8400 block of Edes in Oakland. LPD detectives requested the assistance of the Oakland Police Department in serving the arrest warrant on Brown. OPD deployed their tactical team, and as they prepared to contact Brown, multiple gunshots were fired from the motel room. The OPD tactical team tried to negotiate with Brown. Brown was later found deceased in the motel room from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No law enforcement officers discharged their firearms during this incident.
