City of Valdez Fire and Police Departments responded Saturday to a report of an unresponsive 16-year old female.

Valdez, AK – City of Valdez Fire and Police Departments responded Saturday to a report of an unresponsive 16-year old female in the Valdez High School pool locker room.
At approximately 12:26 p.m. Saturday, Valdez Fire and Police Dispatch received a report of a 16-year old female found unresponsive in the Valdez High School pool family locker room. An off-duty certified lifeguard called for medical assistance and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Fire department emergency medical personnel and several police officers responded to the scene. City responders provided advanced life support care and transported the young woman by ambulance to Providence Valdez Medical Center where she remains in critical condition.
Medivac flights to Anchorage are unavailable due to weather.
Circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Next of kin were present at the scene.
