Serial Burglars Arrested

Over the last two months, the Campbell Police Department has seen an increase in burglaries on the west side of the City.

On November 19, 2015, Campbell Police Officers followed up on information about the whereabouts of stolen property that was taken from a residential burglary on Walnut Drive. Anthony Furlong, 19 years old of Campbell, was contacted at his residence and found to be in possession of a stolen ATV that was taken during a burglary from a nearby home. Matthew Freudenblum, 18 years of Campbell, was also contacted at the residence and found to be in possession of two bicycles that had been stolen out of Los Gatos (valued in excess of $10,000).

As the investigation progressed, officers obtained a search warrant for the home and found additional stolen property, along with drugs, ammunition, and illegal weapons.

At this point in time, officers have identified property belonging to 11 burglary victims from the surrounding area. There are additional items, including a mountain bike, tools, and electronics that are believed to be stolen. Anthony Furlong was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on the following charges:
• Possession of stolen property (3 counts)
• Possession for sale of a controlled substance
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon
• Possession of an illegal weapon (blackjack)

Matthew Freudenblum was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on the following charges:
• Possession of stolen property (3 counts)
• Altered serial number
• Possession of drug paraphernalia

Officers are continuing to investigate this case and are asking anyone who has information regarding this incident, or the involved suspects, to contact the Campbell Police Department Investigations Unit at 408-871-5190.
