11/26/15, press release - DUI
On November 26TH, 2015, at approximately 2:22 AM, Burlington Police Officers were dispatched to the area of the Esox Bar for a report of an intoxicated male, later identified as Patrick Ryan III, attempting to leave in a vehicle.
Officers met with Ryan and observed clues of intoxication. Ryan was noncompliant and would not exit the vehicle. Ryan subsequently backed the vehicle out of the parking space, almost hitting a parked car nearby and sped away at a high rate of speed eastbound on Main Street. A pedestrian crossing at a crosswalk had to jump out of the way to avoid Ryan’s vehicle.
Officers nearby followed Ryan’s vehicle to the intersection of College Street and Hungerford Terrace, where Ryan struck a curb, causing his vehicle to stop. Ryan exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended by Officer Beliveau after a short foot pursuit.
Ryan is currently wanted on two outstanding warrants for Driving with a Suspended License due to a prior DUI conviction.
Ryan’s criminal history showed two misdemeanor convictions for DUI and Driving with a Suspended License. Ryan has four previous failure to appear at a court proceeding.
Ryan is currently lodged at county jail on the two outstanding warrants and for lack of $2500 bail. Ryan is expected to be arraigned at the Chittenden County Superior Court on Monday, November 30TH, 2015 for charges of Gross Negligent Operations, Eluding a Police Officer, Criminal DLS and Resisting Arrest.
Ryan was processed for DUI-Blood. The result for the blood test is pending.
