Marshall County - Two new state troopers reported for duty Monday at the Indiana State Police Post in Bremen. The two troopers are from the class of 46 troopers who just graduated from the 75th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy on Thursday, November 19th.
In June of this year the class began 21 weeks of intense training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield. During the training period the recruits received over 500 hours of classroom instruction as well as nearly 300 hours of hands-on practical and scenario based training exercises.
Carmyn Hamblen, 23, was born and raised in Angola, Indiana. She graduated from Angola High School and was awarded Steuben County’s Lilly Scholarship in 2011. She attended Valparaiso University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2015 with a B.A. in Criminology and Communications. Prior to working for the Indiana State Police, Hamblen spent her summers working as a security officer at Pokagon State Park. Trooper Hamblen’s father, Stu Hamblen, is currently the chief of police for the Angola Police Department. Hamblen will be assigned to Elkhart County.
Korinne J. Reinke, 23, is a native of Muncie, Indiana, where she graduated from Muncie Central High School in 2010. She attended the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio on an Army ROTC Scholarship where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Prior to attending the Indiana State Police Academy, Reinke spent one year training with the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Reinke currently resides in St. Joseph County and will be assigned to Elkhart County.
The new troopers will continue their training for the next three months as part of the ISP Field Training Program.
