Multi state crime spree, suspect in custody
On December 1, 2015 at 11:44 P.M. Giles County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to Welcome Center on Interstate 65 at mile marker 3 to shots fired. Multiple calls were received via 911 of shots fired at Welcome Center. A male truck driver stated to 911 that a male subject had attempted to steal his eighteen wheeler at gun point and after refusing the offender’s commands he heard multiple shots. A female complaint stated that she had been shot in the arm and the subject had attempted to steal her car. While en route to the Welcome Center, Giles County Sheriff’s Department received a call from Pilot Travel Center located at exit 22 that a male subject had just been robbed at gun point and the offender had stolen his 2012 white Lincoln MKZ.
Lieutenant Shane Hunter, Investigator Mike Sands, Sgt. Titus Gilbert, and Deputy Jarred Hastings arrived at the Welcome center and spoke with two victims. The first victim being a female from Carlisle, Kentucky had advised investigators that while sitting in her car a white male approached her vehicle and attempted entry into the vehicle. After being unsuccessful the male subject then fired multiple rounds into the vehicle striking the female multiple times. The female was transported to Vanderbilt University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was identified as a male from Corinth, Mississippi. The male subject stated that the offender jumped onto his eighteen wheeler holding a gun in each hand stating to the victim that "you’re going to drive me". The truck driver retreated into his vehicle's sleeper compartment. The truck driver stated that the offender was driving a dark colored SUV and was traveling north on Interstate 65.
Chief Deputy Tommy Chapman and Deputy Chad Estes arrived at Pilot and spoke with male subject that had been robbed at gun point by male. The offender stole the victim’s 2012 Lincoln MKZ. The offender had also ditched a black Ford Explorer at the Pilot that had been stolen on this date in Limestone County.
911 Dispatch received a call from Limestone County stating that Limestone County Sheriff’s Department was in pursuit of the 2012 Lincoln MKZ that had been reported stolen from Giles County. The offender led Limestone County on pursuit before wrecking the stolen vehicle. The offender then fired numerous rounds through the windshield of the vehicle. The male subject who is identified as Casey Cole White age 32 of Athens, Alabama. After a lengthy standoff with Limestone County Sheriff’s Department, Casey Cole White surrendered to law enforcement officers.
Lieutenant Shane Hunter proceeded to Limestone County and spoke with Mr. Casey White. Mr. White confessed to the crime spree that occurred in Giles County. Mr. White is currently being held in Limestone County Sheriff’s Department on numerous charges. Awaiting extradition to Tennessee, Mr. White will face Attempted 1st Degree Murder, two counts Attempted Carjacking, Carjacking, and Theft over $10,000 in Giles County.
