The Southern Pines Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind residents and visitors that the Holiday Parade will be taking place in Downtown Southern Pines on Saturday December 5, 2015. While the parade will kick off at 11:00 AM, road closings in preparation for the parade activities will start at 6:00 AM.

As an additional reminder, the 200 Block of NW Broad Street and the Train Station parking area have been posted with signs indicating “Road Closure/No Parking” in accordance with Town of Southern Pines ordinances (between W. Connecticut Avenue and W. New Hampshire Avenue on the west side of the street and the train station). All vehicles left in those posted areas after 6:00 AM are subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.

Parade participants have been instructed to line up on NE Broad Street east of the railroad crossing approaching from E. Rhode Island Avenue and southbound toward E. Vermont Avenue. Access to this location will only be accessible if you approach from the east side of the railroad crossing, i.e. N. May Street/N. Ashe Street.

Motorists approaching downtown Southern Pines from Midland Road will be detoured starting at W. Maine Avenue to S. Bennett Street. Motorists approaching downtown Southern Pines from SW Broad Street will be detoured starting at W. Illinois Avenue.

Residents and visitors are also strongly urged to pay particular attention to the road closures in the Downtown area for the parade. It is anticipated that all roads will be reopened at approximately 12:15 PM.
