A Craigslist advertisement in the Athens classifieds section listed by Robert Ferguson at [email protected] is merely an attempt to defraud unsuspecting legitimate job seekers. Do not engage with this email account.

If you do and are “hired” as a Personal Assistant, the fraudster employer will overnight an authentic looking business account check for you to deposit in your personal checking account. Then you will be directed to keep your first weeks earnings and to convert the remainder into MoneyGram’s with additional instructions as to what to do with them and/or where to send them.

Once the scam employer’s check is processed by your bank, it “bounces” and you become legally liable to compensate the bank for the amount of the fictitious check drawn from your account. Do not fall prey to this scam....CAB
