The Montclair Police Department reminds the community: If you see something, say something.
On behalf of the men and women of the Montclair Police Department, our thoughts are with those affected by the senseless acts of violence in San Bernardino. Like all of our San Bernardino County law enforcement partners, we are committed to providing the highest level of service to the community. One of our goals is to educate the public and increase public awareness. Informed community members play a vital role in reporting criminal and suspicious behavior. Here is how we can work together.
“If You See Something, Say Something™" Campaign
"If You See Something, Say Something™" is a national campaign that raises public awareness of the indicators of terrorism and terrorism-related crime, as well as the importance of reporting suspicious activity to state and local law enforcement.
Law enforcement agencies rely on community members to help keep our nation safe by reporting criminal activity and suspicious behavior. Within our communities, we share everyday moments with our neighbors, colleagues, family, and friends. It's easy to take for granted the routine moments in our every day—going to work or school, the grocery store or the gas station. But your every day is different than your neighbor’s—filled with the moments that make it uniquely yours. So if you see something you know shouldn't be there—or someone's behavior that doesn't seem quite right—say something. Because only you know what’s supposed to be in your everyday.
Informed, alert communities play a critical role in keeping our nation safe. "If You See Something, Say Something™" engages the public in protecting our homeland through awareness–building, partnerships, and other outreach.
To report suspicious activity, contact your local law enforcement agency. For Montclair Police Department non-emergency calls, dial (909) 621-4771. Describe specifically what you observed, including:
• Who or what you saw;
• When you saw it;
• Where it occurred; and
• Why it's suspicious.
If there is an emergency, call 9–1–1.

The Nationwide SAR Initiative
Members of the Montclair Police Department are prepared to document relevant observations of community members through Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR). SAR information that has been determined to have a potential nexus to terrorism is shared with local and federal law enforcement partners. To learn more about the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative, visit the website at https://nsi.ncirc.gov/default.aspx. Comprehensive training and informational resources are available.
Run, Hide, Fight Program
The Montclair Police Department makes the Run, Fight, Hide training program available to businesses, schools, and other entities within the community. The curriculum, which is presented in less than one hour, is designed to educate our community partners on how to increase chances of survival if faced with an active shooter event. The program assists in preparing for critical incidents and educates the public on what to expect from law enforcement during a response to an incident. To schedule a presentation, contact the Office of the Chief of Police at (909) 448-3601.
