Jennings County-Yesterday at approximately noon, the Indiana State Police arrested Draden Box, 22, North Vernon for operating while intoxicated and inhaling toxic fumes after Box crashed his vehicle near Commiskey, Indiana.
The investigation began when Trooper Randel Miller responded to the crash in the 1400 Block of West 850 South near Commiskey. Trp. Miller located Box who seemed disoriented near the vehicle. The initial investigation revealed that Box allegedly passed out while driving his 1999 Chevrolet truck after inhaling intoxicating fumes from an aerosol can prior to the crash.
After passing out, Box drove off the roadway before striking trees and a mobile home. The vehicle then struck a large tree and came to a stop. Trp. Miller arrested Box and transported him to the Jennings County Jail where he was incarcerated on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, level 6 felony and inhaling toxic fumes, class B misdemeanor.
Trp. Miller was assisted at the scene by Jennings County Deputies Allen Ritchie and Kevin Hall. He was also assisted by Jennings County EMS and fire departments.
The Indiana State Police would like to remind the public of the dangers of inhaling toxic vapors and the threat to the motoring public by those who operate a vehicle while under the influence of toxic vapors.
