Burglary interrupted on West School Road today, suspects caught (12/8/15)
This afternoon the Kensington Police Department received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Bartlett Rd. We were told that a vehicle had driven up a long driveway and told the homeowner when questioned they were looking for another residence on the road. The homeowner promptly called the police department feeling something wasn’t right.
As I was responding to the area to check for the vehicle I observed two subjects actively breaking into a residence on West School Rd. After confronting them on the property one of the subjects was able to get back to their vehicle and fled. That subject later crashed in East Kingston while being pursued by other responding officers.
The other subject fled into the woods and was caught a while later with the assistance of many surrounding agencies and multiple police K-9 units from the State Police. Kensington Elementary School was contacted and placed into “secure campus” for a short period of time to get the students safely into the building as the search area got closer to the school.
We later learned this was not their only burglary today in Kensington, as another was reported on South Road a short time after they were taken into custody.
We greatly appreciate the information that allowed us to catch these subjects.
