On 12-08-2015 at approximately 8 p.m. Officer Andrew Erickson of the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department conducted an investigation into the use of marijuana in a vehicle in the 69000 block of Section Street, Edwardsburg, Michigan. During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle started the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene, striking Officer Erickson with the rear view mirror. Officer Erickson, in an attempt to not be swept up underneath the vehicle, grabbed the rear view mirror. The driver after repeated commands, finally stopped the vehicle.

Approximately 1.5 pounds of marijuana was seized from the vehicle along with a large double edged knife. The driver of the vehicle, an 18 year old male, resident of Jones in Cass County, was arrested on a multitude of charges to include possession with intent to distribute
marijuana and CCW. The 19 year old passenger was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Both subjects are currently lodged in the Cass County Jail.
