3 people in custody after citizen catches them burglarizing a relative's home in western Greene County
On Friday (12/11/15) at approximately 10:00 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home located in the 2400 block of West Farm Road 112 for a possible burglary in progress. A citizen observed an unfamiliar vehicle parked at the home of a relative and visible signs of forced entry. The witness blocked in the vehicle and observed 3 individuals walking out from behind the home.
Prior to Deputies' arrival, one male and one female suspect fled from the residence. Deputies located one male suspect on scene and apprehended the other two suspects after searching the area. A 28-year old male, a 67-year old male and a 53-year old female have been taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail.
During the investigation, Deputies learned two other homes owned by the same family had been burglarized. The stolen property from the homes was recovered and returned.
"We are grateful this situation ended safely, with no one getting hurt, the suspects in custody and stolen property returned to the rightful owners," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "Someone noticing something 'not right' and our Deputies' quick response were the key factors in resolving this incident."
For their safety, the GCSO cautions citizens against confronting individuals who may be committing a crime due to the unpredictable nature and behavior of those involved. We encourage citizens to report ̶ from a safe location ̶ any suspicious behavior.
The investigation is on-going and charges will be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
**A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.**
