*UPDATE - ISP Investigating Serious Crash on I-65 in Johnson County

Johnson County - The Indiana State Police are investigating a four vehicle personal injury crash on I-65 southbound at the 84 mile marker. The right lane on the southbound side is currently closed for cleanup.

After preliminary investigation, it appears traffic had come to a stop in the construction zone for an unknown reason. A southbound dump truck was not able to get stopped before hitting a passenger car that was stopped in the traffic. That car then struck another passenger car that was stopped in the traffic as well. The debris from the crash caused damage to a fourth vehicle in the area.

The two southbound lanes in this area are split with a grass median due to construction. This crash occurred in the single southbound lane on the west side of the median.

The driver of the 2009 Kenworth dump truck was 40 year old Troy Wilson of Columbus, who was not injured. Allen Bidwell, 36, of Greenwood was driving the silver Ford Taurus that took the initial impact from the dump truck. Bidwell was flown from the scene by a medical helicopter, the status of his injuires are unknown. The third vehicle involved , a 2016 Dodge Charger, was driven by 40 year old Timothy Arnold of Indianapolis. Arnold was not injured. A 2003 Ford F-150, driven by Nancy Woodcock of Boggstown, was hit by debris as a result of this crash.

There is no further information available at this time.
