The Valdez Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer for a testing date to be determined.
The Valdez Police Department offers a competitive pay, incentive, and benefit

• Beginning base salary of $62,800 (not including unscheduled overtime and incentives)
• Base pay goes to $67,500 after 1 year probationary period
• Lateral/Experience pay higher, DOE
• Overtime availability
• 200 hours of personal leave time accrual a year (beginning)
• 12-hr work schedule
• Week on/Week off tour of duty (Patrol)
• Night shift pay differential that equates to about 4% of base pay (1800-0600 shift)
• Field Training Officer pay
• Take home car during tour of duty

This position is a non-FLSA exempt, sworn law enforcement position that will work a non-typical work schedule. This position answers to a Police Sergeant and performs law enforcement duties as assigned and articulated in the job
description for Police Officer. Advanced training is made available and expected of successful applicants. All Police Officers must meet the minimum requirements set forth for Peace Officers by the Alaska Police Standards Council and must be able to attain certification from that agency.
