Make way for the city's plows!!!
Tis the season to help out the plows! The snow has started falling again, and more snow is forecasted in the coming days! Before the plows head out to clean our streets for us, let’s all make sure the roadways are clear for them to do this.
A reminder in regard to parked vehicles – vehicles should be parked in a manner which would not inhibit snow removal operations. The Valdez Municipal Code states the following: Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, no person may park or cause a motor vehicle to be parked, and no motor vehicle may be parked, on any street in the city upon which snow removal is undertaken by or on behalf of the city from the time that snow removal operations on the street appear to be necessary until the time that the snow removal operations on the street are completed. (VMC 10.12.030A)
It’s also important to note that it is NEVER okay to park a vehicle in a snow lot or blocking the opening/access-way to a snow lot. This space is reserved for snow removal operations. Vehicles in violation of VMC 10.12.030A are subject to being cited or impounded at owners expense. (VMC 10.12.40A)
Our Public Works Crews and Contractors who run our plows work long hours to make our roadways more pleasant for the rest of us. Let’s all join together and make their job easier.
Thank you for your help and have a safe and happy holiday season!
