Police make arrest following multiple breaking and entering cases

A Huron Township resident who has been linked to multiple burglaries in Huron Township is off of the streets, according to authorities.

Gary Foster, 28, was arrested Dec. 12 after he was involved in a Nov. 21 breaking and entering in the 32000 block of King Rd.

According to Police Chief Everette Robbins, the police department has taken numerous breaking and entering reports of barns, garages and sheds in the Vining Rd., Kind Rd., and Huron River Drive areas.

Foster was arrested on multiple breaking and entering incidents that he allegedly committed in that corridor over the past several months, according to Robbins.

“We believe that this individual has victimized a large number of our residents dating back to the summer months. He would target, as much as he could, unlocked garages and outbuildings. It is a good time to remind residents to lock up their residences, cars, and garages. Criminals unfortunately are looking for easy prey, especially in rural areas,” he said.

“This was a total team effort between our Police Department and the community. It started with a couple of residents that cared enough about the community to call in and leave a tip about this individual. Our Officers and Detectives then put in long hours, over several days, of surveillance and follow up investigation to bring this to a resolution. They are not done yet.”

Foster was charged by the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney with a felony breaking and entering charge and four-time habitual offender charge.

Robbins said that multiple investigations will be reviewed over the next several days by the prosecuting attorney, and that it is anticipated that Foster will face more charges.

“We are glad we could make this arrest now before our residents could be victimized during the holiday season when incidents like this tend to be on the rise. Hopefully we are continuing to send a message to criminals that we will do whatever it takes and use any resources necessary to stop this behavior. I know these arrests can never come soon enough for our victims, but we appreciate each of their support and patience,” Robbins said.

Police believe that Foster is not related to a recent burglary in the 31900 block of Pennsylvania Rd. that occurred last week.

Robbins said that the department continues to seek the public’s help in identifying the two individuals who were involved in that incident.
