Telephone Scam Alert 
The Nederland Police Department has received several calls today from citizens concerned about a possible warrant issued for their arrest.
The citizens are advising they are receiving calls from the Nederland Police Departments primary phone number. 409-722-4969. Once the citizen answers the phone they are advised there has been a warrant issued for their arrest and if they don't pay immediately an officer will be at their residence to arrest them. The caller even goes so far as to give a case number to reference when the citizen pays their fine. The caller is then giving them an out of state phone number to call to arrange payment of the alleged fine.
The Nederland Police Department does not accept any type of payments over the phone.
