BEWARE OF LOCAL PHONE SCAMS
Scam artists are hitting the Hamilton County area, preying on individuals making them believe they have a warrant out for them and will be going to jail if they don’t pay for court costs. A subject contacted NPD advising her husband was contacted by individual claiming to be from Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office giving a name and a badge number stating he had two active warrants for Failure to Appear and Contempt of Court for missing Jury Duty. The subject then advised the husband he had been served after giving him information and having him recite it back to him. At that point the scam artist informed him he needed to show up to a court date. When our victim asked if it could be taken care of now the subject advised to buy 2 $500 re-charge cards from Kroger and give him the numbers and then go to the clerk`s office to be reimbursed.
