Campbell Police will host a virtual ride-along on Twitter this Saturday night (12/19/15).
Have you ever wondered what a Saturday night in Campbell, CA is like sitting behind the wheel of a police car? The Campbell Police Department will be hosting a virtual ride-along on Twitter this Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 8pm until midnight. We will be patrolling the streets of Campbell and live-tweeting any incidents that may come up during the course of the scheduled online event.
Our goal is to increase engagement in a way that we aren’t able to do on a daily basis. The topic of our virtual ride-along will be centered around the consequences of driving under the influence as we work to get drunk drivers off the road in conjunction with Santa Clara County’s “Avoid the 13” program. While there won’t be any specific DUI checkpoints in Campbell on Saturday night, we aim to prevent DUI related crashes and deter drunk driving.
We anticipate sending out anywhere from 50 to 100 tweets from the @CampbellPolice Twitter account on Saturday night, depending on the amount of police activity and the level of community engagement. We will also accept questions as time permits.
We welcome everyone to “ride-along” with us using the Twitter hastag #RIDEwithCPD
