Police Activity at 101 freeway/Desoto Ave
On December 22, 2015, at approximately 2 PM, Los Angeles Police Department received a call regarding theft suspects in the area of Ventura Blvd, South of Topanga Canyon. Senior Lead Officer Sean Dinse responded to the area in an attempt to locate the suspects. Officer Dinse saw the car being driven near Canoga and Dumetz with 3 occupants. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated and attempted to flee and LAPD went into pursuit. The suspect vehicle subsequently crashed, rolling over at the 101 freeway on the Desoto Ave off-ramp with the driver ejected and becoming pinned under his own vehicle. All 3 suspects were transported to local hospitals to be treated for injuries resulting from the crash and will be held on suspicion of several theft related offenses..
Due to the severe collision and large crime scene, traffic on the 101 freeway was impacted for several hours and a "SIG Alert" was issued, but lanes have since been reopened and police have cleared the area.
