Oakland City Man Arrested for DUI after Crashing into Yard
Gibson County – Last night at approximately 10:48 p.m., Indiana State Police and Gibson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash at 12478 Old Lake Road near Oakland City. When troopers arrived they identified the driver as John W. Fink, 24, of Oakland City. No passengers were in the vehicle. Trooper Rafferty detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage while talking to Fink. Field sobriety tests indicated Fink was impaired. Preliminary investigation revealed Fink entered a curve, left the roadway and ended up in a yard on Old Lake Road. The driver was allegedly going home from a Christmas party where he had consumed alcohol. Further investigation revealed Fink had a blood alcohol content of .15%. He was arrested and taken to the Gibson County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
Many people will be celebrating the holidays by consuming alcohol. Indiana State Police encourages everyone to please be responsible and to have a designated driver before they take that first drink. Drink responsibly.
