Vermillion's Explorer Post 266 is inviting the community to participate in a special event! Join us for an open house on January 30th, from 1-4 pm at Vermillion Middle School.

Are you interested in learning about what a career in law enforcement is like? Are you between 14-21 years old? If so, you may want to consider joining the Vermillion Police Explorer Post 266. On January 30, 2016 from 1PM to 4PM, the Vermillion Police Explorer Post 266 will be hosting an Open House for youth and their parents at the Vermillion Middle School. At the Open House you can learn more about what it takes to join and what you can expect to experience if you are selected. There will be several law enforcement officers from the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Vermillion Police Department on site and available to answer your questions. Come and see a Police K-9 search for drugs, a detective process a crime scene, and an accident reconstructionist investigate a mock crash. You can also learn about the dangers of impaired driving by wearing Fatal Vision goggles and completing road side DUI tests. If you don’t agree that seatbelts save lives, you may want to see the rollover simulator in action.
