BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Sikeston, Missouri woman arrested for Domestic Assault and Resisting Arrest Charges.
Jerry L. Summers (39) of 120 Matt Street, Sikeston, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Domestic Assault Second Degree and the Class D Felony of Resisting Arrest.
Sheriff Walter states that on Thursday, December 31, 2015 deputies responded to 120 Matt Street, Sikeston, for an assault with a baseball bat. Deputies arrived and made contact with the victim who let them in the house. The victim told deputies the suspect was his mother, Jerry Summers. Summers came in the room, and the victim was reluctant to tell the deputies what happened.
Deputies went with the victim to another room to talk to him. The victim told deputies that he got in an argument with his Summers. Summers began hitting the victim and then picked up a baseball bat. Summers struck the victim numerous times with the bat. The victim was struck in the face at least one time. Summers got a shotgun and stated she was going to kill herself, so he ran out of the room.
Deputies made contact with Summers and placed her under arrest. When deputies attempted to put handcuffs on Summers she resisted by pulling her arms away and started to walk away. Once Summers was placed in handcuffs, she continued to pull away from the deputies.
The victim did have a swollen jaw and had pain when he attempted to chew or open his mouth.
Summers was transported to the Scott County Jail pending the filing of formal charges by the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney.
Summers remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $5,000.00 cash or surety and no contact with the victim.
