Advisory

Winter Storms Expected For The Week Of January 4th

The National Weather Service is forecasting an active weather pattern to impact the San Francisco Bay area this week. This weather pattern will be due to a series of Pacific storm systems that are expected to impact all of California. Periods of heavy rain are likely, as well as locally strong and gusty winds at times. The heaviest rains and strongest winds are expected to occur late Monday night through Tuesday morning and then again on Wednesday. It is forecasted that the six-day rainfall total for this week will range from 1.5 to 3 inches at lower elevations and from 3 to 6 inches at higher elevations. The strongest winds will be near the coast and in the coastal hills. Due to weather conditions, commute times will be longer, especially the Tuesday morning commute so please give yourself extra time and drive carefully. Drier weather is forecasted by Friday, but the overall storm pattern is projected to remain active into next week.

Please visit the National Weather Service’s website http://www.weather.gov for updated information.
