BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Jackson, Missouri woman arrested for Drug Charges.

Kayla Lawrence (24) of 5591 Lexington, Jackson, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance, the Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of Marijuana, and the Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sheriff Walter states that on Sunday, January 3, 2016 a deputy conducted a vehicle stop on State Highway 62 near Miner. Lawrence was driving and gave the deputy a false name. The deputy was able to identify Lawrence and it was determined she has an active arrest warrant out of Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office for Fail to Appear on Drug Charges.

Lawrence gave the deputy permission to search her back pack. Located inside the back pack was a metal spoon with residue, a blue tourniquet, and a smoking pipe with a green leafy substance inside of it.

Lawrence was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail. During the transport, Lawrence admitted to having a syringe hidden on her and gave it to the deputy.

The syringe field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Lawrence remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $5,000.00 cash only
