On 12-23-2015 The Burlington Police began an investigation regarding a “late reported” sexual assault that occurred in July 2015. After the initial report was made, the case was immediately transferred to the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations where a quick and thorough investigation was conducted.
The investigation revealed that on July 18th, 2015 a 45 year old female was a client at ACT 1 (Detox facility). While she was there she had been sexually assaulted in a bathroom by a male staff member identified as Robert Trepanier. Due to the seriousness of the report, the investigation moved rapidly.
At 9:40 am Trepanier was arrested and will be arraigned in court following processing later this morning. Trepanier has the following convictions: Burglary (occupied dwelling) multiple convictions, Unlawful mischief (multiple convictions), buy/sell/receiving stolen property, Assault and Robbery with a weapon, Furnishing alcohol to a minor and violation of probation.
