The Livermore Police Department reminds everyone to drive safely in the wet weather

The Livermore Police Department wants to remind our community to drive safely. Looks like we will have wet weather with us for a while.

Please drive safely. Leave earlier than usual, slow down, and leave more space between yourself and the vehicle in front of you. Together we can reduce the number of collsiions occurring in Livermore

With the rainy weather upon us, it’s important to remember to turn on your headlights while using your windshield wipers continuously, whether it is day or night. During inclement weather conditions the law requires such safety precautions in order to prevent traffic collisions as well as to alert others of your location. This section is meant to keep the public safe.

California Vehicle Code Section 24400(C) reads as follows:
(c) As used in subdivision (b), "inclement weather" is a weather condition that is either of the following:
(1) A condition that prevents a driver of a motor vehicle from clearly discerning a person or another motor vehicle on the highway from a distance of 1,000 feet.
(2) A condition requiring the windshield wipers to be in continuous use due to rain, mist, snow, fog, or other precipitation or atmospheric moisture.
