1/4/16, Press Release: Burlington to Create Position of Domestic Violence Prevention Officer

BURLINGTON TO CREATE POSITION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION OFFICER

Police Officer Krystal Wrinn, a six year veteran with the Department and graduate of St. Michaels College (with a bachelor’s degree in psychology), has been selected to serve as the Department’s first dedicated Domestic Violence Prevention Officer (DVPO), effective January 3rd, 2016. Officer Wrinn has always displayed a strong interest in combating domestic violence and currently serves as one of the two domestic violence trainers in the Agency. As the DVPO, Wrinn will provide another layer of quality control as it relates to domestic violence investigations. The immediate handoff to Officer Wrinn of domestic violence cases requiring follow-up or subsequent arrests will provide better protection for victims, better investigations, better prosecutions, and more consistency. She will work closely with our Domestic Violence Victims’ Advocate, providing a seamless approach to domestic violence prosecutions and an emphasis on reducing domestic violence recidivism. Every victim of domestic violence in Burlington, regardless of their particular needs or domestic situation, will have a dedicated advocate in the Burlington Police Department. Officer Wrinn can be contacted at [email protected]
