Criminal investigation underway involving a former GCSO Deputy
On January 5, 2016, Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott was notified of a child pornography investigation involving a GCSO Deputy by the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force. The Task Force provides service to 14 counties and is comprised of seven Law Enforcement agencies including the Greene County Sheriff's Office. Detectives from the GCSO Criminal Investigations Division and Professional Standards Division participated in this investigation. This morning, investigators for the SMCC Task Force and GCSO served a search warrant at the Deputy's residence.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m. this morning, Sheriff Arnott terminated the employment of the suspect and personally arrested 27-year old JUAN T. JONES. He was transported to the United States Marshal Services for processing for federal charges related to child exploitation material.
Mr. Jones was an employee of the GCSO since September 2013. "I am highly disappointed in the decisions Mr. Jones has made and the choice to engage in this horrific conduct," states Sheriff Arnott.
