GCSO arrest 33-yr old man suspected of burglarizing northern Greene County church

On Thursday morning (01/07/16) at approximately 10:35 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an alarm call at Evergreen Church located in the 3200 block of North Farm Road 123 in northern Greene County. Deputies were notified of multiple trips to the alarm system by the monitoring company and confirmed no employees were inside the building at the time.
Deputies located a van parked at the rear of the church and a shattered glass door to the building. A perimeter was quickly established and the building was searched to locate any suspects. A 33-year old Hispanic male identified as ALBERTO COLINA JR was located inside the building; after resisting arrest and a Taser deployment, he was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail.
Deputies searched the church to locate any other possible suspects and no one else was found. Upon further investigation, it was determined the van had been reported stolen from Springfield; a semi-automatic handgun was also recovered from inside the church reported stolen from an armed residential robbery which occurred on Wednesday (01/06/16) afternoon in Branson.
"The quick response of our Deputies helped in the apprehension of an armed, dangerous person," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "I am proud of the work by our Deputies who are now able to provide a sense of relief to our community, knowing the person responsible for an armed robbery and violent assault is no longer walking around free."
The investigation of the burglary is on-going and additional charges will be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for further review. Colina is also being detained related to charges filed by the Taney County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (please refer to the release distributed earlier today by the Branson Police Department for further information).

**A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.**
