Press Release
Live Mannequins Used To Protest The Use of
Humans In Domestic Sex Trafficking
Los Angeles, Ca- Journey Out (Formerly the Mary Magdalene Project) is an organization whose mission is to help women and girls in Los Angeles become successful survivors of domestic sex
trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, will conduct a silent human sex trafficking awareness event, through the use of several live actors and actresses posing as mannequin atop risers with statistical information and sale tags affixed to their bodies. January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, therefore Journey Out wants to shock the conscience of the public through the use of silent protest and education. This silent protest will unobtrusively disrupt the public as they go through their daily lives in two very public locations simultaneously.
The event will take place on Monday on January 11, 2016, from 10:00 am- 12:30 pm at two
locations:
- City Hall- Spring Street Steps and Landings; First Street Steps
and
- Van Nuys Civic Center courtyard near LAPD Van Nuys Station.
