BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports a Sikeston, Missouri man arrested for Drug Charges.
James A. Groves Jr. (30) of 13 Sandywood, Sikeston, Missouri has been charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance and the Class A Misdemeanor of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Sheriff Walter states that on Saturday, January 09, 2016 a deputy conducted a vehicle stop on Davis Boulevard and State Highway Y, in Sikeston, for a traffic violation. Groves was identified as the driver, and it was determined he has an active arrest warrant out of Cape Girardeau Police Department for Fail to Appear on Traffic Charges.
Scott County’s K9 was deployed and alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted of the vehicle. Located under the driver’s seat was a container hidden inside a cooler cup. Inside the container were a glass smoking pipe, with residue, and a plastic bag with a white crystal like substance.
The smoking pipe and the white crystal like substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Groves was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail for the active Cape Girardeau warrant and pending charges.
Groves remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $15,000.00 cash or surety.
