NEW CROSSWALK ALERT
There is a new crosswalk signal on South Main Street/301South between the Georgia Southern University Southern Drive Entrance and Rucker Lane. The signal became active today. See this video for an explanation on how the signal works, what drivers should be aware of, and how pedestrians activate and use the signal.

In short, the lights activate in this order:
No light activated: Traffic proceeds as normal.
Flashing Yellow: Crosswalk has been activated, prepare to stop
Solid Yellow: Light is about to turn red, prepare to stop
Solid Red: Vehicle required to stop for pedestrians
Flashing Red: Each vehicle MUST STOP before proceeding, but may proceed if no pedestrians are in the walkway. Similar to a stop sign.

There will be an increased police presence in this area for the remainder of the week.
