POP Unit and K-9 Chance Seize 7 Pounds of Marijuana.
On Tuesday, January 12, 2016, members of the Anderson Police Department’s “Problem Oriented Policing Unit” conducted a traffic stop just north of the North Street Bridge in Anderson. During the stop, officers contacted the driver, 41 year old, Regan William Whitehead, of Shingletown California.
Whitehead was determined to be driving without a license and was being issued a citation when K-9 Chance performed an exterior sniff of the 2004, Lincoln that was being driven by Mr. Whitehead. K-9 Chance immediately alerted police to the presence of an odor of a controlled substance coming from the vehicle and over seven pounds of marijuana was recovered and seized. Drug paraphernalia including used meth pipes and other items were also located.
Whitehead told officers that he had transported the marijuana from his home in Las Vegas Nevada and said he was on his way to a girlfriend’s house in Mt. Shasta, California. The POP unit booked Whitehead into the Shasta County Jail for felonious transportation of marijuana and are investigating Whitehead for possible trafficking charges. All charges will be filed with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office.
The Anderson Police Department and “Problem Oriented Policing Unit” are dedicated to continued enforcement efforts which hold offenders accountable and make our community a safer place.
