Two Vehicle Crash Injures Ohio Couple
(Allen County, IN)-Yesterday morning, the Indiana State Police responded to and investigated a two vehicle crash on US 30 at the intersection with State Road 101 in eastern Allen County that injured a couple from Ohio.
According to Master Trooper Gary Gerardot, at approximately 10:20 a.m. a southbound 2013 Freightliner box truck driven by 39 year old Terry Hendricks from Fort Wayne was stopped at a stop sign on State Road 101 at the intersection with US 30. Hendricks pulled his vehicle into the westbound lanes of US 30 and into the path of an on-coming 2006 Honda SUV driven by 66 year old Kirby Brown from Van Wert, Ohio.
As a result, Brown's SUV struck the driver's side of the truck, pinning Brown inside of his vehicle. He was extricated by personnel from the Monroeville Fire Department. Both he and his passenger, 63 year old Jody Brown from Van Wert, Ohio were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. All three were said to have been wearing seatbelts which reduced the severity of their injuries.
Hendricks was cited for failing to yield the right of way at a through highway. Gerardot was assisted at the scene by the Allen County Sheriff Department, Monroeville Fire Department and EMS, and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority. (TRAA)
