Eighteen hours after receiving the horrific call of two reported dead bodies located at the apartment complex in the 1600 block of Manter Street, Anderson police have the suspect behind bars. 38 year old, Anderson resident Anthony Harrison Baxter, was arrested for homicide and will be booked into the Shasta County jail. APD has determined Baxter is responsible for murdering a local couple in their home and then stealing their vehicle. Baxter has an extensive criminal record and history of violence. APD discovered Baxter’s hideout at a home located in the 1700 block of Shasta Street in Anderson several hours after getting dispatched to the murder scene. Officers held a perimeter on the dwelling for 9 hours. Eventually the Shasta County SWAT team was called in to assist with the arrest warrant for Baxter. Baxter was taken into custody without incident. The investigation and case are still being pursued so further details are not available for release at this time.
