Two Arrested After Fleeing from Trooper

Jasper/Lake Counties-At approximately 1:21 p.m., today, Monday, January 18, 2016, Master Trooper Fred Trammel pulled a 2016 Ford Explorer over on I-65 north bound at the 224 mile marker (this is 4 miles north of the Fair Oaks exit) for speeding.

As Trooper Trammel was speaking to the occupants the vehicle sped off.  Trammel ran back to his police car and pursued the Ford north on I-65 where it hit stop sticks at the 238 mile marker with one of its rear passenger tires.

The pursuit continued north and the Ford exited at the 240 mile marker (Lowell exit) going east onto State Road (SR) 2.  The Explorer then went off the roadway just east of Clay Street going through two residential backyards in the 5200 block of SR 2.  While driving through the backyards the Explorer took out approximately 100 feet of fencing, dragging part of it with them.  During the pursuit the fence that the Explorer was dragging behind caused damage to an ISP police car.

The Ford came back onto SR 2 going west and finally stopped at Colorado Street.  There were 4 occupants in the vehicle.  The 2 female back seat occupants were released to their parents.

The driver, identified as Canaisia Martin, 20 of Waukegan, Illinois and the front seat passenger, identified as Tyshaan Boyd, 20 of Markham, Illinois were taken to Jasper County Jail in Rensselaer and charged with Resisting, a Level 6 Felony.

Further charges maybe pending in Jasper and Lake Counties.

A mug photo maybe available by calling the Jasper County Jail.
