WINTER STORM WATCH
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. FOR SALINE/GALLATIN/HARDIN/POPE/WILLIAMSON AND JOHNSON COUNTIES.
THIS WATCH COVERS A LARGE PART OF WESTERN KENTUCKY AND PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS FROM MARION SOUTH AND EAST.
* ACCUMULATIONS... THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR AROUND 4 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE WATCH AREA. SOME SLEET MAY BE MIXED WITH THE SNOW.
* TIMING...SNOW WILL SPREAD SOUTHEAST TO THE OHIO RIVER BY MIDNIGHT...THEN ACROSS WESTERN KENTUCKY AFTER MIDNIGHT. SEVERAL HOURS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW ARE POSSIBLE. THE SNOW WILL END ON WEDNESDAY MORNING.
* MAIN IMPACT...THE SNOW WILL READILY STICK TO PAVED
SURFACES...CAUSING A RAPID DETERIORATION OF TRAVEL CONDITIONS. THE WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE WILL LIKELY BE VERY HAZARDOUS.
* OTHER IMPACTS... VISIBILITY MAY BE UNDER ONE HALF MILE DURING THE PERIOD OF HEAVIEST SNOW.
