“This is a message from Lake Lure Emergency Management. The NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for most of NC including Lake Lure and Rutherford County. The storm is expected to move into our area tonight and will likely include freezing rain, sleet and snow overnight tonight and continue into Saturday. Accumulation of more than 12 inches is expected for the Lake Lure area.

Everyone is encouraged to make preparations now so you can stay safely in your home for the next 48 to 72 hours if necessary. Please make sure you have necessary medications, food, water, clothing, blankets, and safe backup heat in case the power goes out. Anyone who is on home oxygen is asked to call Lake Lure Fire Department now at 828-625-9333 and let us know if you do not have enough on hand if the power goes out for an extended time. Emergency Shelters are ready and will be opened if needed during the storm.
