Evacuations for Tuckerton Beach Residents
In response to recent forecasts of possible power outages because of heavy snow and high winds, widespread moderate and major coastal flooding predicted in back bays and low lying flood prone areas especially at the times of high tide on Saturday morning, Saturday night, and Sunday morning the Tuckerton Borough Office of Emergency Management is recommending that all residents in the Tuckerton Beach Area evacuate no later than 5:00PM on Friday, January 22nd .
Flooding will likely make South Green Street impassable to vehicles and Tuckerton would not want evacuees leaving in the dark so we are asking those residents in the area that wish to evacuate to start to begin that process NOW. South Green Street will be closed to non-residents beginning at 5:00 pm this evening; people wishing to have dinner at Panini Bay or Tuckerton Grille will be allowed as long as the road is not flooded. Residents who remain behind may find themselves without power and unable to leave the area until floodwaters recede sometime late Sunday and the Borough emergency personnel will not be able to assist you with evacuating.
