POP Unit Makes Arrest for Violation of Social Host Ordinance
POP Unit Makes Arrest for Violation of Social Host Ordinance
On Saturday, January 23, 2016, at about 11:44 P.M., members of the Anderson Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit (P.O.P.) responded to the 2700 block of Limestone Ct., in Anderson California for a reported party/disturbance. Upon arrival, a number of subjects fled from the residential home, running on foot and jumping fences and were fleeing in all directions.
Approximately, 70 subjects, mostly minors were contacted inside the home. An investigation was conducted at the location and it was determined that a number of minors were consuming alcoholic beverages. Alcohol was found throughout the home and the minors were confirmed to have been drinking via Preliminary Alcohol Screening device tests.
This call for service required extensive resources and consumed a significant amount of time as police had to contact and release minors to responsible adults. The person in control of the residence was issued a criminal citation for violating the City of Anderson’s “Social Host” ordinance. An ordinance that was designed to deter under age consumption of alcohol by holding those who encourage or allow it responsible. It should be noted, the revenue received from these citations are directed toward alcohol abuse and prevention education programs in the community.
The name of the person that was issued the criminal citation is not being released at this time due to their age.
The Anderson Police Department and Problem Oriented Policing Unit (P.O.P.) are dedicated to continued enforcement efforts which make our community a safer place.
