Anderson Woman Arrest on Felony Child Abuse Charges

On Sunday, January 24th 2016, at about 6:13 P.M., Anderson Police Officers were dispatched to a complaint concerning alleged child abuse. Police subsequently arrested 24 year old, Anderson resident Kathleen Elizabeth-Jean Cordell after she left her two children (who were both age 2 or younger), alone inside of her apartment while she went to a local Anderson bar.

The children were initially discovered by Cordell’s, boyfriend’s, mother (hereafter referred to as relative) who responded to Kathleen Cordell’s home after being alerted by her son that he had received a telephone call from Kathleen Cordell who had told him that she had left the children unattended. The children were heard crying by the relative upon arrival and entry was forced into Kathleen Cordell’s home.

The children were found in dirty diapers and one was covered in vomit. The children were under clothed and the home was found to be in disorder with broken glass on the floor near where the children had been discovered.

Kathleen Cordell was taken into custody and booked into the Shasta County Jail on felonious child abuse/neglect charges. Children Family Services were also contacted regarding the incident.
