Lomita Deputies Arrest Robbery Suspect After Pursuit
On January 24, 2016, at approximately 12;48 PM, Lomita Station patrol deputies responded to a robbery in the city of Rolling Hills Estates. The Rite-Aid pharmacy in The Peninsula Center was robbed by a male black, who threatened the cashier with a gun. Although no gun was seen by the cashier, she was extremely fearful for her life and the suspect left the store with cash.
Lomita Station patrol deputies began searching the area and observed a silver Jaguar being driven by Fletcher Ogletree, who resides in Long Beach. The deputies attempted to stop the Jaguar, but it did not stop and a pursuit ensued. The deputies pursued the suspect into the city of Torrance. The suspect attempted to make a right turn at the intersection of Torrance Boulevard and Portola Avenue, but lost control and collided into a tree. Suspect Ogletree was immediately taken into custody without incident.
Numerous witnesses identified Ogletree as the person who robbed the Rite-Aid in the city of Rolling Hills Estates. Officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to the scene because Ogletree matched the description of a robbery suspect who had committed robberies in their city as well.
No deputies or civilians were injured in the traffic collision. Torrance Police Department is handling the traffic collision investigation.
Fletcher Ogletree will be arraigned on Tuesday, January 26th in Torrance Court for several counts of robbery and felony evading charges.
