State Police Employee Retires After 16 Years of Service to Indiana

Peru – Every great organization has valuable people who work behind the scenes to make everyday operations run smoothly. For the Indiana State Police those valuable individuals are the civilian employees who do everything from answering the telephone to analyzing D.N.A.  One such individual, Sue Keller, recently retired after serving the state of Indiana for 16 years. Twelve of those years were with the Indiana State Police at the Peru Post.

Keller started her career with the Indiana State Police in 2004 when she was hired as a telecommunications operator at the Indiana State Police Peru Post. Approximately two years later, she laterally transferred to a data input secretary position, also at the Peru Post. She served in that capacity until her promotion to district secretary in 2011.  She held that position until her recent retirement. As the district secretary,  Keller was required to perform a host of duties including payroll, data input, greeting foot traffic at the post, answering phone lines, crash records input, manage information and documents required by the Department, assists troopers with case reports, and many other duties as assigned.  Keller also served for many years as a counselor at the Indiana State Police Lions Law Camp, held annually at Anderson University.

“Sue was an outstanding employee,” stated Lieutenant Jeremy Kelly, commander of the Indiana State Police Peru Post. “Her attention to detail and dedication to her job provided the public and the Indiana State Police with a quality of service that was second to none. We wish her well in retirement.”

Keller started her career with the state of Indiana in 1999 when was hired as a telecommunications operator for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (Law Enforcement Division).

Keller also serves as a volunteer emergency medical technician for the Miami County Emergency Management Agency. She resides in Miami County with her husband, Vern. They have three adult children.
